In 1975 a young Roberto Remelli debuted as technician in the motorsport world, preparing an Abarth A112 and a Simca Rally. In the following 20 years, Remelli will become one of the most respected technician, learning the ropes in the FIAT trophies and participating in several occasions, between the 1990 and the 1995, in the World Rally Championship.
1997-2003: the single maker trophies era
In 1997, Remelli begins an interesting and profitable partnership with Scuderia del Girasole, working on the preparation of the cars for the Lupo Cup, Ibiza Trophy and Fun Cup Beetle. Together with the Varese-based team, Remelli also contributed at the sitting up of the new VW Golf Super Diesel, big protagonist in the ETCS series. In that time, Remelli widened his activity to the single seaters, collaborating with Scuderia Famà where he was involved in the Formula Nissan 2000 and Formula Master programs.
2004-2008: the titles with Mini and the prototypes
In 2004, as Pit Lane Garage, Remelli and his technicians continued to work as consultants in several factories, such as the Lucchini Corse,with which they won the 2005 and 2006 Italian Prototype Championships. 2008 Belgian Touring Car Championship runner-up with a SEAT Leon, Pit Lane brought home the 2011 Mini Challenge title with Ivan Tramontozzi, preparing the Team Millenium’s Cooper.
2015 the TCR world title with Comini
The partnership with Target Competition was confirmed also in 2015 and this time the effort of Pit Lane guys is double: the SEAT Leon Eurocup and the TCR International Series. Five Leon are fielded in the European series for Oriola, Dablander, Gugger, Hernandez e Schmarl, while three brand new SEAT Leon Cup Racer are lined up in the TCR world series for Stefano Comini, Andrea Belicchi and Michael Nikjaer. At the end of an eventful season, rich of pathos and new records, such as the one-two-three finish in Valencia Race 2 or the first ever victory in a TCR race gone to Stefano Comini in Sepang, the Swiss will be crowned 2015 TCR Champion at the wheel of a SEAT Leon Cup Racer fielded by Target Competition and preparated by Pit Lane Competizioni technicians. The title went to Comini after a spectacular one-two Comini-Belicchi in the last race of the season at Macau.
2009-2014 : between Superstars and SEAT
The current Pit Lane Competizioni was born in 2009, giving technical support to the Maurizio Lusuardi’s team in the preparation of the Superstars Series BMWs for Thomas Biagi, Christian Ghedina, Ivan Tramontozzi and Francesco Ascani. The agreement with Target Competition is dated 2014 and was celebrated with the Mario Dablander win in the 2014 ETCC. Also in the following year the Pit Lane Competizioni technicians worked toghether with the Target Competition collegues, this time in the SEAT Leon Eurocup, where they fielded 4 Leon Cup Racer for Stefano Comini, Jordi Oriola, Lorenzo Veglia and Jurgen Schmarl. Comini ended the championship fourth.
2016 the Leon Cup hat trick and the TCR successes
In 2016 Pit Lane Competizioni come back to the track as team and, remaining faithful to SEAT brand, decides to race the SEAT Leon Cup with three Leon Cup Racer and the Italian TCR with a 2016 Leon TCR. It’s an incredible season, lived under the technical direction of Roberto Remelli, helped by his son Denis and the race engineer Massimiliano Galeazzi, and with the support of Christian Pescatori as Sporting Director. Pit Lane cars brought home a stunning hat trick in the SEAT Leon Cup: Nicola Baldan won 8 races and conquered 11 podiums on 12 races, crowning himself as 2016 Champion, Alberto Vescovi won the Gentleman Trophy while Pit Lane Competizioni is the Team Champion. Great news came also by the Italian TCR, where Enrico Bettera brought home one victory and 4 podiums in three events, signing also the pole position in Monza.
